Our team
Meet the vibrant and dynamic duo behind Fat Sally’s Pub,
Tyler Burgess and Kristin Murdoch, where passion meets pints!
With a blend of energy and a deep respect for the classics, becoming pub owners was an adventure fueled by passion, determination, and a love for hospitality.
With 10 years of hospitality under Tyler's belt managing up to 40 staff, and Kristin's background of tourism and admin, the two make for the perfect team.
In March of 2022 they made the decision to leave their home in Twizel and take the first steps to becoming pub owners.
After exploring numerous properties for the perfect location, they finally found a charming space that felt like home. With its exposed brick walls, cosy fireplaces, and inviting atmosphere, Fat Sally’s Pub was the ideal setting.
With the help of previous owner Sally Ann Donnelly, and many amazing people within the Oamaru community on 19 December 2022 their dream finally become a reality!
After fully renovating and selling their house, they moved to Oamaru the week of Christmas, all while Tyler had a broken leg, and officially became pub owners.
This incredible journey is filled with challenges triumphs, and unforgettable moments. They are grateful for the opportunity to pursue their passion and create a space where people can come together to connect, unwind, and create lasting memories.
Cheers to the next chapter in their adventure!
